Newsletter #11 - October 2023
It’s been an exciting time for LeapFrog. Here are a few of the highlights from the past few months.
We’ve partnered with Wastewater Alternatives and Innovations (WAI), an organization working to mitigate the cesspool crisis in Hawai’i by helping homeowners manage the process of converting to new wastewater systems that are affordable, efficient, and better for the environment.
WAI is bringing many important stakeholders together to protect both island freshwater and the ocean. Together we’ll be working to bring our plant-powered water reuse solutions to Hawai’i. We are excited to be part of the solution to one of the largest drivers of coral reef decline and groundwater pollution on and around the islands: untreated wastewater. Read more here.
We are excited to be working with Palari and Mighty Buildings to develop a greenwall version of our plant-powered greywater reuse system, the Cascade.
It’s been gratifying to have so much interest and support from our partners. Together, we’re pioneering innovation in environmentally conscious housing in multiple ways. We can’t wait to see these greenwalls in action in Palari and Mighty Buildings homes soon! Read more here.
Biophilia is our innate, hardwired instinct to connect with nature and other living beings.
Think about how good you feel in your favorite outdoor setting — walking in a park, listening to the waves crash against the shore, admiring the view from a mountaintop. That’s biophilia.
Connecting with nature can boost our immune systems, support mental and emotional health, create social connections, and aid physical recovery, as well as reduce anxiety and improve cognitive performance and sleep.
LeapFrog’s nature-based technology supports biophilia in two ways: through the plants in the system itself, and through the additional landscaping the water it produces makes possible.
